Normally every time we try to grow pumpkins they get taken down by vine borers and squash bugs. This year I’m happy to say that we defeated them and ended up with some small, cute pumpkins! Speaking of cute things, we went to the bunny barn to check in with the rabbits. Miley is wanting to breed one of her bunnies so that she has some older ones to show next year, but the bunnies had other ideas…

It’s the longest number of days I’ve ever went milking a goat with out skipping! Normally we do kid sharing so we don’t have to milk every day, but since Nutmeg lost her kids I’ve had to keep milking her to keep her in milk. Has it been difficult? Well, you’ll just have to watch…

Life has been busy for us lately, so we had to take some time off from making videos. Now that things have settled don a bit, we’re trying to get back into the swing of things. With the rainy spring we had, the garden got off to a slow start, but overtime it managed to pull through and we have a happy garden update!

It’s just been one of those years, we got the garden in late and it’s been slow to get going. Now we’re happy to say that things are really starting to grow well and produce so it may end up being a good gardening season after all.

The day began with an awesome surprise, our guinea hatched out 9 keets!! We decided to catch them and put them in the chicken tractor to keep them safe from predators. Sounds like a great idea, right? Well, let’s just say that she didn’t think it was a good idea at all….

It’s harvest time around here, and the field around our place recently got cut. So we’re trying to gather as much straw as possible before they come and work it under. It’s a fun evening in the garden until it gets cut short…

Rotten mulberries, a wasp, an imposter lady bug, the sound of rain on a sunny day, mulberry stains on the forehead, randomness and giggles… Ya know, the simple, good stuff of life…that’s what you get when you send the kids to pick mulberries.

The mulberries and black raspberries are ready to pick! What did we make with them? Well… you’ll just have to watch!

We’re getting ready to plant something new in the garden and give you an update on the turkey eggs… but wait… we have to rescue kittens first! As we always say, there’s never a dull moment on the homestead!
