We ended our camp out with a good old breakfast over the campfire, then in the evening we did a little work in the garden.
It’s our first camp out of the season and no better way than to start it out with a sticky marshmallow mess!
Well, after much debating we decided to sell the Mini Rex rabbits. Here’s why…
After doing some thinking we decided our turkey poults would be better off being raised by their mama. So now they’re all back together once again.
Dylan got the go kart finished so we test it out. Also, a turkey update…. did the egg hatch?
The garden has become a weedy disaster so now it’s time to change up my plan.

There has been a couple of things that I’ve been wanting to get done for a while… so today is the day to get them done!
We’re moving our buck to a bigger pasture. He needed a shelter so we made an easy, cheap temporary shelter for him… nothing too fancy.
We had a busy day with lots of places to go. One of the things we did was go to the Sunflower Hot Air festival in Anthony, Ks in hopes of watching them fly hot air balloons.
Just getting some planting done and trying to plant according to what grows best together.

The tomatoes aren’t looking so great so it’s time to get them planted. Dylan’s been doing more work on his go cart and it’s starting to take shape.

Miley’s been interested in experimenting with different recipes to make with dandelions. We’ve been searching for recipes and came across one for dandelion bread so we decided to try it.
Finally the day has come to move the pigs out to their pen…. and I do believe they approve.
Ever since we put the green house up I’ve been wanting to hang out inside it and listen to it rain. Well, I finally got to do that!
We’re introducing the tomatoes to the green house. I want to get a shade cover soon because it gets way too hot for them to be out there full time yet. We are also planting flowers and putting our pepper plants into bigger cups.
Oh this wind… will it ever calm down so we can get stuff done???
The meat birds are big enough to free range now so I’m turning them out and putting the layers in the chicken tractor. After that we got some planting done in the garden… finally!

One day Miley and I were outside talking about all the dandelions. I told her that they’re edible and used for several different things. She thought making dandelion flower tea sounded interesting so we made some.
It’s been a while since we’ve shown you some of our animals so today we’re taking you along as we do our morning chores.
We have hard, clay soil here. I’ve been working for several years to build up the soil in my garden and have come a long way. I just need something that will give it that extra boost and I think I found it.
Most of our seed sprouted and have grown enough that we need to get them transplanted.
We had snow and freezing temps but it was cozy warm inside our cattle panel greenhouse… actually it was a little too warm!
We finally got some snow and that made someone pretty happy!
It’s a windy day here in Kansas! Just thought I’d give you an update on the cattle panel greenhouse and how it’s holding up in all this Kansas wind!
The pig feeder has rusted out on the bottom otherwise it’s in good shape. We don’t want to buy a new one so we figured out a way to fix it. Now it will get us through this season, and hopefully more!
Today is the first day of the season to milk our goat. We shared with the pig… but she wasn’t so sure about it.
We’re getting our seeds for the garden started plus getting a little more planting done in the greenhouse.
Miley decided to spend some of her hard earned money and invest it in a pig. It will be her 4H project and she’ll be taking it to the fair and showing it as a market hog.
Let’s see… how to describe this day… I’d have to say it was a very productive, adventurous, dramatic day! Oh yeah… and very suspenseful!
