I’ve been worried about the turkeys getting too cold at night since they don’t like to go up. I finally took some time to do some research and found that turkeys are actually cold hardy and do fine being left to fine suitable shelter for themselves.
Making gingerbread houses is a fairly new tradition for us that started several years ago. It’s turned into a great way to make memories and spend time together during the Christmas season. This year we found gingerbread barn kits so we got a couple to try out. We gotta have barns and animals too, ya know?
It was another cold day so we stayed warm by making two different soups, one for lunch and one for supper, plus we baked cinnamon rolls.
We got some cinnamon rolls mixed up so we could spend the next day baking. In the evening I took Miley to a Christmas party and we took time to drive through the park looking at the lights.
We’ve got really cold temperatures coming so we’re getting a few things done that need to be done so we don’t have to worry about doing them in the really cold temps.
The day was so beautiful! We had errands to run in town but we put them aside because we couldn’t pass up spending such a lovely afternoon in the garden. We’re attempting to use the Ruth Stout method of gardening, so right now is the best time to get mulch added. That way there is time for it to break down before planting time.
The other evening when we went out to do chores we discovered we had an uninvited visitor hanging in the coop.
Its a family tradition to get the tree put up the weekend after Thanksgiving. Every year Michael and I pick out a new ornament together and each of the kids pick one out. After 26 years we have a wide assortment of ornaments and have found our tree holds a little story of all the years.
Our family came to visit for Thanksgiving. We had great time hanging out, catching up and having good ole fun.
It’s the day before Thanksgiving and there’s so much to do to get ready. Of course, we take time to get in some interesting conversations and feed the turkeys cranberries.
