Christmas Lights at the Park
It was a busy day! Started out with chores, then we got a new to us dishwasher delivered, and ended the day watching the lighting of the Christmas lights at the park.
Lots To Do But There’s Always Time For a Walk With the Goat
It’s the time of the year when the work outside dies down but there’s still plenty of work to be done in the house to get it in shape for the upcoming holidays. We made a day of it cleaning house and shampooing carpets. Of course all work and no play makes for a dull, boring day so we made time for a walk with the goat.
A Celebration of Five Years on the Homestead!
We’re celebrating 5 years of being here! The weather was so nice that we spent most of the day outside. The kids were installing speakers in Brooke’s car, Michael and I were changing up the fence by the barn, and Miley was trying to get her airplane to fly. We ended our day with a bowl of chili, Halloween cupcakes and fun conversation.
It Was Meant To Be || The Story of Our Move
Join us for an afternoon chat as we snap beans and tell the story of our move.
And Then I Found Five Dollars
It was a day of chores, doctoring the turkey, snapping beans and a couple of stories… then we found five dollars.
The History of Our Land
We’re celebrating being here on the farm for five years. I thought I’d share my great grandfather’s story, from a newspaper article he wrote, of his journey here and how he claimed the land we now live on.
Gettin’ the Chicken in the Freezer!
Cutting up chicken is a lot more work than freezing it whole. It pays off in the long run though, because it makes it more convenient to use. This time we cut more up than we left whole. It’s a great feeling to have that chore done for this year.
Processing Day|| One Chicken Had A Bad Heart
Processing day… it’s a day that we both dread and look forward to. It’s always hard to part with animals that you’ve spent time with and taken care of, but at the same time it’s nice to get them done and have the freezer stocked for winter. One of our chickens had fluid around it’s heart. It’s the first time we’ve ran into something like this so we’re having to do a little research to fine out if the meat will be safe to eat. While the processing was going on, Dylan and Miley got the porch painted and Dylan’s pickup cleaned up. We’re now reaching the end of having most of the food we’ve grown put up for winter.
Oh no, we have to skip Friday!
Oh dear, I got days mixed up and it affected the whole week. So here it is Friday and we’re doing all the stuff we planned on doing Thursday. I guess we’ll have to skip Friday so that we get back on track.
