500subgiveaway2

Wow… we now have over 500 subscribers on our YouTube channel!  To celebrate, we’re hosting a giveaway.  But first we’d like to thank each and every one of you who watches, comments and likes our videos. We really enjoy the positive comments, suggestions and fun conversations.
For this give away we’re offering water kefir grains. If you would like to learn more about them you can check out this site Posey Mom. We bought ours from there and they have excellent service plus offer a lot of information on making kefir and other probiotic drinks.
We’ll give away a heaping half cup of kefir grains to three different people. All you have to do to be entered is leave a comment in the comments section of the video saying you’d like to try some.
If you would like to be entered up to two more times, please share one of my videos. It can either be on social media or you can share with your friend, neighbor, family member and etc. Then just leave a comment in the comment section of the video telling me which video you shared and who you shared it with. Please make each entry a separate comment so that it’s easier to sort out entries at drawing time.
This contest is limited to US residents and will start as soon as the video is published and end Monday, August 15, 2016. A drawing will be held and the winners will be announced Wednesday, August 17.

Check out the video below:

New Rabbit, Canning Tomatoes, and Planting More Beans

Meet our newest addition to the homestead… a Mini Rex rabbit. She’s so cute! We’re having a hard time coming up with a name that fits her. Do you have any suggestions?
Aside from getting the new rabbit, we got some tomatoes canned and the last of our fall green beans planted.

Healthy Homemade Frozen Pizza

My kids love pizza. I love pizza, especially the quick and easy kind that the kids can pull out of the freezer and make themselves. Unfortunately I don’t get that kind of pizza too often because it’s not very healthy, plus it can be expensive especially if I buy enough to have on hand every time someone needs a quick and easy meal.

Treating the Garden to Prevent and Cure Disease

This year I’m spraying the garden with several different things to help prevent fungus and disease. On this day I used Actinovate, which is an organic fungicide that helps to prevent and cure a wide range of diseases that affect plants.
As I was spraying I discovered that my tomatoes look like they may be starting to be affected by some sort of disease. It doesn’t help that we’ve had some big rains lately, then on top of that, when ever it does finally dry out and I do water, we end up with another big down pour the next day. I’m sure that the inconsistent amount of water they’ve gotten has been pretty hard on them.

Last year this spray did wonders for my plants, just hoping it will work that well this year. I believe I really need to consider crop rotation for next year.

What a Day!

Is today over yet? This is one day that has gone on forever and even though there’s just a little over an hour left of it as I’m typing this, it will be an hour or two into tomorrow before today’s work is done. That’s the kind of day it’s been.

I woke up early with plans of getting all the tomatoes, which we picked over the weekend, canned. First I rounded up jars and got them put in the dishwasher before I headed out to do chores. Both the kids were still sleeping so I decided I’d just sneak out really fast and get them done. Miley always loves to come with me to help with chores, but since I was needing to get canning done and she was still asleep, I thought it’s be a little quicker just to run out and do them real fast. Once I got about half way through them, Miley came running out and helped me finish up.

Easy Minecraft Creeper Cake

Minecraft… it’s the thing that’s taken over my kids’ down time. It even zaps time away from chores, school, or other tasks… creeping in from all angles and bringing productivity to a screeching halt around our house. Let’s just say, if I had a quarter for every time I said, “Shut that off and get busy!” I’d be pretty wealthy right now.
