Miley’s Mission: To sneak up on and scare Mom before Mom notices she’s there. Was the mission a success? Watch and see!
Apple Pie Filling and Chicken Hugs
We spent most of the day making apple pie filling… the house smelled good and made us hungry for a pie! Our busy day ended on a happy note with chicken hugs and smiles.
Plantin’ Strawberries and Pickin’ Apples
It was a very lovely warm day so we got lots done outside! We transplanted some strawberries, did a little clean up by burning some weeds and picked apples. Now there’s lots more work ahead as we decide what we want to make with all those apples.
Nothing Fancy, Just Living Simply
A delicious brunch, crafting, jars filled with tomatoes, a new goat shelter made… nothing fancy… we’re just living simply and enjoying the good life.
Learning to Sew!
Gave Miley sewing lessons and then got more tomato sauce canned. I’m getting so close to getting all my pint jars filled… what a great feeling!
My Canning Disaster!
It was a sad couple days at our house. First, we took our goat kids to the sale because it’s getting to be that time of the year to down size for winter. Then something went wrong in the canner and my jars of tomato sauce ended up spewing all over the canner and were ruined, so I had to can them all over again. Despite such a rough start the day ended with a relaxing ride to the creek and some entertaining words from Neville.
Super Simple Way To Make Tomato Sauce
This is a simple way I’ve found to make tomato sauce. You can check out my post, Easy Way to Make Tomato Sauce for more info.
Let’s Pick A Snack!
Peppers, peppers and more peppers… got them all chopped and in the freezer. With supper running late, good thing there are apples on the tree so we could pick a snack.
Picking Peppers in the Dark!
The morning started out cold so we warmed the house by starting a fire in the fireplace. Spent the afternoon canning beans, then remembered after supper that there might possibly be a frost that night. Even though they probably would have been fine, we decided to go ahead and pick all the peppers when we did our evening chores.
Turkeys, where did you go?
We got the beans picked and snapped, now we just need to find time to can them.
A lot of times I don’t follow recipes and will just randomly make something according to what we have on hand. Sometimes it turns out great, other times not. Tonight’s supper was one of those experiments.
At chore time we found the turkeys missing so we had to find them and put them back in the coop. Always something around here….
